Sony Ericsson Elm

Sony Ericsson Elm Review
The Sony Ericsson Elm is an environmentally friendly handset that has joined the ranks of “Green Phones” that are being promoted by various mobile phone manufactures. What makes the Elm Sony Ericsson an eco friendly phone is that Sony claims it is made from recycled plastic, and is free from hazardous materials.
With the Sony Ericsson Elm phone you get a candy bar style handset that is fairly thin, measuring 110 x 45 x 14 mm and weighs only 90g. As is common with phones that are tagged as being environmentally friendly, the display is small at only 2.2-inches; beneath the display is a standard numeric keypad.
The operating system used with the Sony Ericsson Elm is the same dated system used with many of the lower end phones offered by Sony. It is a little slow, but you will get some nice features with this handset. A few of the features that come with this phone include Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, as well as HSDPA.
The Elm isn’t really focused toward social networking like many smartphones today, but you do get easy access to sites like Twitter, MySpace and Facebook right from the home page. With the Elm it is easy to stay in touch with your online friends, even when you are away from your computer.
The small display on the Sony Ericsson Elm does make it a little difficult for browsing the Internet or looking through pictures, though you will get Sony’s XMB, which is a media browser. XMB makes it easy to browse your music, pictures and videos, plus you can access your photos on sites such as Blogger and Flickr, as well as YouTube. For listening to music this phone comes with an external speaker that provides fairly decent sound quality.
Though most eco friendly phones don’t tend to come with many applications, the Sony Ericsson Elm does provide a few; you’ll get Google Maps to use with the built in GPS, as well as a 5-megapixel camera that comes with LED flash. In addition to taking still photos, this camera will also record video. Though the photo and video quality isn’t as good as what you would get with a stand alone device, you do get better than average quality for this type of handset.
The battery life of this phone is better than what you might expect; with average use you should only need to charge it every couple of days. For an eco friendly phone, the Elm Sony Ericsson does offer great performance and a number of nice features. The Sony Ericsson Elm price varies, depending on if you purchase this phone on contract.
